A friend of mine said that in his understanding of world, every man should cheer somebody on and enjoy if supported team defeat another.
I totally disagree with this sentence. Why man should support whoever? As for me it’s a waste of time, energy that’s going nowhere, artificial stimulation of emotions connected with something without real meaning. I asked him if people could become more manful because of being fascinated other’s play?
I enquired him why man should be an observer? More profitable, from passive spotting, would be making an activity. I explained him if he wanted to achieve any goal he should reach it by work. Sitting and beeing excitated about someone’s fun, that’s to say watching XYZ match, would give him nothing.
Finally I asked him how man could relish when somebody is defeating another? If watching another’s failure could help in any way a healthy pearson? I wondered if looking at others’ victory, in game that’s only entertainment for spectator, could help him in any way in personal success.
In other words: when he said, that every man should cheer somebody on and enjoy others’ defeat to be manful, I thought that the same kind of mannish would be to get blotto.
Then he asked if I suggested that somebody was trying to satisfy his urge of being manful by watching sport games. I denied that. I informed him that most of people probably observe plays for entertainment. I added that a lot of fans could also support theirs need of safety, need to belong to something and need of rivality.
After this chat my friend got angry and started to avoid me for a couple of weeks.
