"MIASTO 44" is the story of a young Poles who came to enter adulthood in the cruel realities of the occupation. Yet they are full of life, passionate, impatient. They live as if each day was to prove the latter. However, it does not result from excessive youthful bravado or carelessness - such an attitude is something natural in the surrounding reality, when death threatens at every turn.
Warsaw, summer 1944. Stefan (Joseph Pawlowski) takes care of his mother and younger brother. He took over as head of the family after his father - an officer of the Polish Army - was killed in the September campaign in 1939. He works in a factory Wedel, with increasing difficulty enduring the humiliation of the Germans. He dreams of a time when he could repay them for everything and fulfill a duty towards the homeland. He promised his mother he did not engage in the activities of the resistance movement, but - whenever the occasion arises - joins the Army. The conspiracy pulls him Kama (Anna Próchniak) neighbor from building in Warsaw's Wola, with whom friendship since childhood. The girl secretly in love with Stefan, hoping that after the war they would be together. But this is due to meet with subtle and sensitive Ladybug (Sophia Wichłacz), Stefan lived experience of the taste of the first youthful love. However, Stefan and Biedronka is not given too long to enjoy the mutual infatuation.
