"My Town Darłowo"
My town - Darłowo
In full: The Royal City of Darłowo. The town is placed (położony) in north-western Poland between two famous seaside resorts ( nadmorskie kurorty) such as Kołobrzeg and Ustka. Darłowo was, previously, an ancient Slavic fishing settlement (osada). Town chartered (przyznano prawa miejskie) in 1290.
My town is very old with many historic (zabytkowe) buildings like town hall or medieval (średniowieczny) church. During the summertime it becomes a tourist trap (miejsce nastawione na turystów) and one of the most bustling (tętniący życiem)places at the polish seaside. Tourists can see a large number of quaint (niezwykłe) and attractive houses with sloping roofs(ze spadzistymi dachami) centered around the town hall.
People tend to be peaceful (spokojni), slow and unhurried but sometimes, from my observations, they can be a little bit reserved (nie bardzo okazujący uczucia) towards tourists. The market square, that is in front of the town hall, is well-looked after (dobrze zadbany).
Darłowo has also a few plush (luksusowe) hotels like: "Apollo", "Lidia", and "Plaza" hotel with the rooms that overlook (maja widok na) the Baltic sea. This view is often picturesque (malowniczy) and delightful during the sunrise.
When you are in the heartland (centrum)of Darłówko, you can recognize overpowering (zniewalający) smell coming from restaurants. Unfortunately, some of the dingy (obskurny) and tumbledown (walący się) buildings, in some foul-smelling (cuchnący) areas, have paint peeling off them (odlatuje z nich farba). In such places many teenagers tend to spend their free time. Nevertheless, I believe that Darłowo has been improved (stawać sie coraz lepszym).
Some people like spending their time in the areas that are off the beaten track (na uboczu). I do likewise. I often go for a walk with my dog far away houses to switch off (wyłączyć się).
To sum up, my town is well worth a visit especially during the summer.
