Youth - our future?
2008-05-12 @ 07:19:46
I don't think so. I am one of them, I see young people for more time than an average adult and I know, that - despite of our high level of education in schools (one of the best in the world, by the way) - young people don't know respect for others. It isn't something hard to learn, or difficult to hold - but parents should give their children a good upbringing.
They say, that the previous generation was brought up with the rule of respect for the elder, solidity and resourcefulness. So what on Earth is the element making them helpless in raising their children?

Time goes by, everything changes. I think that the impact of other countries(USA especially) is to blame, but there's much more: parents who have to work long hours and don't have enough time to take care of treir children and give them an injection of culture; less closeness between parents and children(times are much easier and I think that before it was easier to keep relations with relatives); modern lifestyle of being free, breaking rules.
Teenages all around the world are let's say more 'spoilt' than about twenty years ago. We have so much more interesting things to do than reading, talking to parents, watching news or going on family parties. We have lots of friends, many clubs and pubs, fast cars and MTV. Censorship? Wtf is this? My parents knew it - I almost don't.

Here you are - the freedom which "Solidarność" fought for. I think, that there's too much freedom while the rules are fading. What will happen? We'll see.
