Tale - Part III - "Dew before morning"

// The third part might be dull, but I can't help it, just wanted to write about some other characters

Dasthaen Alrerin - the only one indifferent student in the case of Vane and Rath, didn't really want them to be thrown away, only to stay and not being 'annoying' to others, excluding him, of course. His life philosophy - sapphirism - told him to stay quiet - it is a good way to not being in trouble or sometimes noticed at all. He was not satisfied with the situation in the school and the atmosphere before and after getting rid of those two. It wasn't something he agreed with, the only reason of him staying silent was the desire of remain where he had been and not having the same punishment as them.
Nobody knew about the reasons of his behaviour, every one thought that he didn't have an opinion about it, was quiet and agreed to everything without any disagreements like a conformist. He was a guy whom the most people liked - or at least declared that, because being a friend-of-all is more complex than one can think. He was supposed to be neutral - that was the way to the others' hearts he used, but reality isn't a bit logical - disappointment's ready.
After some days since the beginning of the school year Dasthaen had got to know some of his classmates. Some of them he came to like, for example Vane Quelaron, Kaira Marim or Poina Calaera, some of them he did not, and despite of the rules of sapphirism, Faian Calulishul was his enemy almost from the very beginning. What is paradoxical - the most important thing to him was to not come into conflicts with anyone - but except Faian, Dast obeyed this rule. However, this system had one, but really serious drawback - avoiding feuds with people causes that making friends is impossible what Dasthaen had noticed - too late, unfortunately. Five months had passed, Ciann had disappeared, Rath had been thrown away, Vane had got the same - Alrerin thought of those, and everything he decided was to stay in the Academy, but it was a carefully thought out decision and had its objectives. Someone a bit interested in human psychology and sociology like him should watch the people and their behaviours after all these events. As it was expected of them - the only person they missed was Mairi, a quite rude girl without respect to school, its mission and subjects, especially Astronomy, what was making Dast think of her at least unfavourably. What about the disappearance of two good students - at Summoning and Astronomy? It was actually noticeable only for fararn Rakarin, the teacher of Summoning and Restoration, and for fararn Manadar, the teacher of Astronomy and Alchemy, but there were other pupils to become 'the best ones'.
As Dasthaen's psychological research was proceeding, several conversations took place, which looked less or more similarly to that one with Zayna Alratar, the toughest one, he thought:
- I miss Ciann - it's about two weeks after her death. Without her, there nothing's happening.
- Me too, but she wasn't an ideal girl after all.
- True, but you should talk more politely about the dead. - Where such as mature language used by an ordinary student came from? Zayna just hadn't enjoyed playing with her mates in childhood. Books were much more interesting.
- You are right. Ciann, forgive me. - He wanted to say something completely different, but the primary objective was not showing his views, only learn the other's thoughts. - And what about the idea of us not being at full strength?
- It' a pity, I liked Ciann - she was my best friend you know. And about those two - Rath got what he deserved; only a fool would feel sorry for him. - Maybe she was more intelligent than others, but she lacked wisdom, what was conspicuous.
- And Quelaron Vane?
- Is he stupid or what? Standing for that murderer makes me think that he helped Rath in this. Fortunately, he is no longer with us, so that neither he nor Jh'tulatar will make one of us pass away. - Anger filled her, however she was quite resistant to feelings like this and she said after a while - Oh, forgive me, I like to talk too much about myself, what do you think about that?
- Nothing concrete, I was a bit confused about that, so I asked you for an opinion. - It was obvious for him that not changing the topic of their talk would conduct to some more complex things than just revealing Dast's thoughts - And have you done the alchemical research for tomorrow? - Maybe not remarkably intelligent way of taking control over the talk, but it seemed to work, talking about two most infamous students in the Academy wasn't a popular thing to do.
- I'm finishing it, but I have problems with the influence of asyni mushrooms on general strength.
- Ooh, do they even have any influence on strength?
- Very small, but they do.
- I don't remember, whether fararn required such details in this homework.
- I just like Alchemy.
- Aah, it's understandable now.
Changing topics were necessary in all conversations he had. Fortunately, there were plenty to talk about.
