DARN

Hi there!
There are a few ways to improve your listening skills.
The best one is moving to English-speaking country or at least be surrounded by native speakers.
Another method is watching English movies or tv series.
Today, I would like to focus on listening to the music using the lyrics. This way might be really efficient especially when you are fond of certain music.
In my opinion, you will pick up more words and expressions when you begin with evergreens. Looking back, I think most of musicians paid more attention to the lyrics than they do nowdays.
O.K. now I would like to show how it works for me.
I will you give an example with a song by The Beatles called "Eleanor Rigby"
You may listen to this song a few times and then find a version without lyrics. Did you get all the lyrics? Did you find anything new for you?
I have learnt a new word from this piece of music.
DARN
What about you? Have you ever heard the word "darn"?
Do you know what it means? Do you know all the meanings?
Maybe you will never ever darn your sock or jeans but at least you will know what darn means.
Good luck with your English and take care!
p.s. Warning! A lot of songs are not grammatically correct, so do not take everything for granted. Anyway this way of learning is still very effective
